Volleyball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lincoln-Way East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sandburg Eagles on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. The Griffins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Lincoln-Way East got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-23, 23-25, 25-14.

Lincoln-Way East had a senior duo take command as Maggie Simon had 22 assists and 11 digs and Charlotte Buck had 11 digs and four assists. Simon is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Lincoln-Way East is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Sandburg, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lincoln-Way East is set to take on their familiar foe Lincoln-Way Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sandburg will face off against rival Lockport at 5:30 p.m. on October 2.
