Recap: Harding Skippers vs. Rhodes Rams
The Harding Skippers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. Their rough 45-23 loss to Rhodes might stick with them for a while.
Ella Adams was Harding's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Sam Dodd held things down on the boards with four rebounds. Dodd took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Rhodes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Betsaida Byrd led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 15 rebounds, and ten steals. Another player making a difference was Daniya King, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Harding's loss was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Rhodes, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harding will take on Maplewood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Maplewood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Harding in Ohio (Maplewood is ranked 158th, while Harding is ranked 608th). As for Rhodes, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Tech at 7:00 p.m. East Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 13 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
