Softball Game Preview: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Biggs Wolverines

The Loyalton Grizzlies will head out to face off against the Biggs Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Loyalton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Lincoln last Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to the Fighting Zebras. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Biggs entered their tilt with Williams on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They blew past the Yellowjackets 23-1. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Riley Harrison was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Allie Little was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Mailey Seipert was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Biggs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in eight consecutive matches.

Biggs pushed their record up to 12-2-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Loyalton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Loyalton came out on top in a nail-biter against Biggs in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 9-8. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
