Softball Recap: Woodgrove Find Success

Woodgrove came out on top against Jefferson on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Wolverines walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Wolverines: when they faced off against the Cougars on Thursday, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Abby Miller looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Faith Barker was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carly Franzen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Woodgrove and bumps their season record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Jefferson, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-3.

Woodgrove has already played their next match, a 4-1 win against Broad Run on the 29th. As for Jefferson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-6 victory against Clarke County on the 29th.
