NEPSAC, high school hockey players in 2016 NHL Draft

Riley Tufte of Blaine (Minn.) is selected in the 1st Round (25th overall) by Dallas. Kimball Union (NH) has its sixth player in three years drafted when Ben Finkelstein goes in the 7th Round to Florida.
Video Highlights: A year ago, the Islanders made Andong "Misha" Song of Lawrenceville (NJ) the first-ever Chinese-born player taken in the NHL draft. Song played last season at Phillips (Mass.) Academy.

Matt Filipe of Cedar Rapids (USHL) led Malden Catholic, Mass., to the MIAA Super 8 Final in 2014-15 before moving onto junior hockey. Malden Catholic also produced U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Keith Tkachuk, whose son, Matt, was the sixth overall pick on Friday night.

Former Taft School star Ross Colton of Cedar Rapids (USHL) was born in Robbinsville, N.J. He went to Tampa Bay in the fourth round, and is signed with Vermont. Taft also produced Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty.

Defenseman Griffin Luce left Salisbury (Conn.) for the United States National Team Development Program after helping the Crimson Knights win the NEPSAC Elite 8 title in 2014. His grandfather, Don Luce, was a 1966 draft pick of the New York Rangers.

U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Tony Amonte is the coach of Thayer Academy (Braintree, Mass.). He was a fourth-round pick of the New York Rangers in 1988 out of Thayer and played 17 NHL seasons. His son, Ty, also of Thayer, was eligible for the 2016 draft.
