Basketball Recap: Neiman Quach's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Garden Grove over Laguna Hills

Garden Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 53-39 to the Laguna Hills Hawks. The Argonauts were not able to make up for their loss to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in December of 2019.

Garden Grove's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Neiman Quach, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 38.5% of Garden Grove's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Juarez, who put up 11 points along with five assists and three steals.

Jackson Burnham was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards for Laguna Hills. Laguna Hills is 4-2 when Burnham posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-6 otherwise. Cyrus Yusuf was another key player, putting up ten points.

Garden Grove now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Laguna Hills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-8.

Garden Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-47 win against Saddleback on the 20th. As for Laguna Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-42 loss against Irvine on the 20th.
