Basketball Game Preview: Ledford Panthers vs. West Davidson Dragons

The Ledford Panthers will take on the West Davidson Dragons in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ledford knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully West Davidson likes a good challenge.

While Ledford didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 55-50 win over Parkland on Wednesday. The 55-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Isaiah Peele was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Taylor, who posted nine points.

Ledford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, West Davidson had to suffer through a 68-20 loss at the hands of Salisbury. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Hornets are ranked 220th).

Ledford's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for West Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Ledford against West Davidson in their previous matchup last Wednesday, as the team secured a 69-39 win. Does Ledford have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Davidson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
