Recap: Topsail Pirates vs. Swansboro Pirates

The Topsail Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 82-62 defeat at the hands of Swansboro. Topsail was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-25.

Topsail's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Landon Kaiser, who scored 14 points. Kaiser hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Spencer Henry was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 3 steals.

Tayvion Tangiora was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals for Swansboro. That makes it two consecutive games in which Tangiora has scored at least 25% of Swansboro's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Cunningham, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Topsail bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Swansboro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Topsail will take on New Hanover at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully New Hanover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday. As for Swansboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Carteret at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Carteret knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Swansboro likes a good challenge.
