Softball Recap: Liberty Ranch Comes Up Short

If Liberty Ranch was riding high fresh off their 14-0 takedown of Edison on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the Manteca Buffaloes by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. The Hawks have struggled against the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Bella Granata made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mariella Granata, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Liberty Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Manteca, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Liberty Ranch and Manteca should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Hawks will challenge Union Mine at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (365 vs. 849). Meanwhile, Manteca (ranked 145th) will meet Patterson (ranked 336th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
