Basketball Recap: Roger Bacon Takes a Loss

If Roger Bacon was riding high fresh off their 63-32 takedown of St. Bernard-Elmwood Place last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Roger Bacon Spartans were outmatched by the Purcell Marian Cavaliers and fell 81-31. The Spartans have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Roger Bacon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anna Schlichter posted six points and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for Schlichter.

Roger Bacon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Purcell Marian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Roger Bacon is taking a road trip to face off against Wyoming at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Purcell Marian, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cooper at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Purcell Marian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Cooper likes a good challenge.
