Baseball Recap: University Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Covenant School of Jacksonville

There's no place like home for University Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors on Thursday.

University Christian got a great performance from Lukas Brougham as he struck out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Brougham is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, University Christian's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason McLeod, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was McLeod's first of the season.

University Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University Christian will host North Florida Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. University Christian is facing North Florida Christian at the right time seeing as North Florida Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, they will welcome First Coast Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Covenant School of Jacksonville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so First Coast Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
