Basketball Game Preview: Central Montcalm Hornets vs. Alma Panthers

Central Montcalm is 0-9 against Alma since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Central Montcalm Hornets will challenge the Alma Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Central Montcalm is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Central Montcalm earned a 45-35 victory over Lakeview.

Meanwhile, Alma scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 83-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glenn. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while the Bobcats are ranked 65th).

Alma dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Central Montcalm, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8.

Central Montcalm took a serious blow against Alma when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 75-39. Can Central Montcalm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
