Basketball Recap: Sutherland Comes Up Short

The Sutherland Knights came up short against the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks on Monday and fell 66-56. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lumberjacks 20-8 in the first quarter.

North Tonawanda was led to victory by Annabelle Day and Lilly Day. Annabelle almost dropped a triple-double with 19 points, nine assists, and 11 steals, while Lilly dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. Lilly has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jakayla Brown, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Sutherland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for North Tonawanda, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Sutherland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Tonawanda, they will take on West Seneca West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
