Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

St. Joseph came into Friday's contest having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Draper APA Eagles 61-59. This was a revenge game for the Jayhawks: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 73-39 defeat.

Draper APA lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jones Strong, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 15 rebounds, and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Strong a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucian Greenwell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.

St. Joseph's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-15. As for Draper APA, they dropped their record down to 12-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph will challenge American Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in American Leadership Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches. As for Draper APA, they will venture away from home to face off against Maeser Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Draper APA is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season.
