Basketball Game Preview: Falcon Falcons vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks

Falcon is on a three-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Cheyenne Mountain is on a six-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Falcons will host the Red-Tailed Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Falcon saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a hard 76-60 fall against Pueblo West.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Isaak Lane, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Lane is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kamrin Lane was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain earned a 53-45 victory over Pine Creek on Tuesday.

Falcon better keep an eye on James Dalsaso. He was instrumental in Cheyenne Mountain's win, shooting 50% from the field en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Treglia, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points and seven boards.

Falcon now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Falcon has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Falcon didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 67-62 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Treglia, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 29 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Falcons still be able to contain Treglia? There's only one way to find out.
