Baseball Recap: Central Cabarrus Takes a Loss

Robinson hit Central Cabarrus with a five-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Central Cabarrus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keyen Elbe, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Elbe is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). Carson Fink was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Central Cabarrus' loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Robinson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Cabarrus will head out to take on Concord at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Robinson, they will venture away from home to challenge East Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
