Basketball Recap: Marion Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Marion can now relate to. They lost to the Virginia High Bearcats on the road by a 52-34 margin on Thursday. The Scarlet Hurricanes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bearcats earlier this season, when they won 42-32.

Leading Virginia High to victory were Madison Davis and Charli Carpenter. Davis dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Carpenter almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Carpenter a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sarah Page, who posted nine points and five boards.

Marion now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Virginia High, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-11.

Marion wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-38 victory against Lebanon on the 22nd. As for Virginia High, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-42 loss against Graham on the 22nd.
