Baseball Game Preview: Neshannock Lancers vs. Hickory Hornets

The Neshannock Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against the Hickory Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neshannock is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

While Neshannock's victory against New Brighton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Lions 2-1.

Neshannock's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hickory came up short against Franklin on Wednesday and fell 9-6. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dante Evans made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Drew Manzo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Neshannock's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Hickory's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Neshannock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424.
