Basketball Game Preview: Morgan Township Cherokees vs. North White Vikings

The Morgan Township Cherokees will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the North White Vikings at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morgan Township will be strutting in after a win while North White will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, Morgan Township didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Wheeler, but they still walked away with a 34-29 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cherokees.

Among those leading the charge was Josie Lemmons, who posted 13 points and four steals. Abby Wasz was another key player, putting up seven points and 12 rebounds.

Morgan Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, North White was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 45-41 to Faith Christian. The Vikings have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

North White's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Morgan Township, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Everything went Morgan Township's way against North White when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as Morgan Township made off with a 49-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morgan Township since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
