Volleyball Recap: Arvada West Takes a Loss

After flying high against Forge Christian on Saturday, Arvada West came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Fossil Ridge SaberCats by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Arvada West actually scored more points across those five sets (107-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 15-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Evan Kabat paced Arvada West's offense, picking up 11 kills. Kabat got some help from Kei Martin and his 30 assists. Martin was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Fossil Ridge was led to victory by Daniel Siemers and Luke Walder. Siemers had nine digs and two assists, while Walder had nine kills, three digs, and two aces. That's the most digs Siemers has posted over his last nine matchups.

Arvada West's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Fossil Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Arvada West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Thomas Jefferson on the 3rd. As for Fossil Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Cherokee Trail on the 3rd.
