Volleyball Recap: North Miami's Undefeated Season over After 11 Games

After flying high against Killian last Tuesday, North Miami came back down to earth. The Pioneers fell just short of the Mourning Sharks by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The loss was the Pioneers' first of the season.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, North Miami sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 26-24, 15-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-12.

It was another big night for Juan Clavijo, who had 65 digs for Mourning. Clavijo is crushing it when it comes to digs: he's had at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Figueroa, who had 13 digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, North Miami fell to 10-1. As for Mourning, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.

North Miami didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Hialeah Gardens on the 4th. As for Mourning, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Killian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
