Baseball Recap: Milton Academy Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Milton Academy dropped their record down to 4-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Roxbury Latin Foxes by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Roxbury Latin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

For Roxbury Latin's part, Braden Place made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Place has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other pitching news, Ben Samuels and Patrick Long dominated on the mound. Samuels tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Long tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Samuels has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Roxbury Latin secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Liam Russell, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
