Marco Island Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the DeSoto County Bulldogs. On the bright side, the 48- point performance marked the Rays' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for DeSoto County, they now have a winning record of 3-2. Those 53 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DeSoto County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Te'Coy Campbell, who posted 11 points and seven boards. Enrique Castro was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Marco Island Academy will square off against Donahue Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for DeSoto County, they will challenge Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
