Baseball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

Commerce extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-16-1. They lost 21-0 to the Rains Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 15-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Commerce saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Markedon Mapps, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That hit marked the first that Mapps has got this season.

As for Rains, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Rains' side, Cash Jenkins made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jenkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Rains got a massive performance out of Kaden Briggs, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Briggs a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Cook, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

While Commerce had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
