Basketball Recap: Knippa Crushers vs. Comstock Panthers

If Knippa was feeling good fresh off their 60-26 takedown of Leakey last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knippa Crushers took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comstock Panthers on Friday. The Crushers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Comstock can attribute much of their success to Creed Hardin, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Hardin continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Lopez, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Knippa has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Comstock, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Knippa will venture away from home to face off against Nueces Canyon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Comstock, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Comstock Panthers challenge the Medina Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
