Basketball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield was the 66-62 winner over Spring Hill when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Springfield Yellow Jackets took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spring Hill Raiders. The Yellow Jackets just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Springfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xavionna Farmer went 7 for 17 on her way to 16 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Farmer a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taleah Patterson, who posted nine points.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Spring Hill, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-10.

Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-33 defeat against Mercy on the 31st. As for Spring Hill, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Marshall County at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
