Downingtown East waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They put the hurt on the Pennsbury Falcons with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2019.
Downingtown East never let Pennsbury on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-22, 25-20.
Molly Drake paced Downingtown East's offense, picking up 15 kills. Drake got some help from Paige Vanemon and her 19 assists. Drake was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.
Downingtown East's victory bumped their record up to 20-4-4. As for Pennsbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Looking ahead, Downingtown East will head out to take on Bishop Shanahan at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pennsbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
