Football Recap: Monte Vista Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Monte Vista Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 27-20 to the St. Francis Sharks. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Monte Vista Christian still got an impressive performance from Evan Vessey, who threw for 319 yards on 26 of 41 attempts. Vessey is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least 300 passing yards the team is 4-2 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Reece Walker was in the mix too, providing Monte Vista Christian with two TDs.

Monte Vista Christian now has a losing record of 4-5. As for St. Francis, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Monte Vista Christian is set to challenge their familiar foe Watsonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Francis will square off against rival Scotts Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
