Basketball Game Preview: McClain Tigers vs. Chillicothe Cavaliers

The McClain Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Chillicothe Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClain has 16 straight victories, Chillicothe has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, McClain earned a 49-36 win over Lynchburg-Clay. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 517th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Chillicothe was beaten by Hillsboro 61-22 on Monday.

McClain pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Chillicothe, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.

McClain strolled past Chillicothe in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 51-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for McClain since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
