Volleyball Game Preview: Ripley Vikings vs. Spring Valley Timberwolves

Ripley hasn't had much luck against Spring Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Vikings will take on the Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. Spring Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ripley, who comes in off a win.

Spring Valley will be up against a hot Ripley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Vikings walked away with a 3-1 win over Capital on Tuesday.

Ripley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-22.

Kaydence Sheppard and Willow Simon were among the main playmakers for Ripley as the former had 21 assists and three digs and the latter had nine assists and five digs. That's the most assists Sheppard has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Spring Valley faced Cabell Midland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Timberwolves fell 2-0 to the Knights.

Ripley's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Spring Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 22-9-5.

Ripley couldn't quite get it done against Spring Valley in their previous matchup back in September of 2018 as they fell 2-0. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
