Basketball Recap: Morrow Comes Up Short

Morrow came up into this matchup off a tough 44-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Newnan Cougars by a score of 53-51 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since December 12, 2023.

Newnan was led to victory by Jaylin Brown and Jaylen Britt. Brown posted 16 points and five rebounds, while Britt went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points. The dominant performance gave Britt a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Maniaci, who had eight points.

Morrow has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Newnan, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Morrow will square off against McIntosh at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newnan, they will face off against Dutchtown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dutchtown will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something Newnan surely won't give up without a fight.
