Softball Recap: Grace Christian Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Grace Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Faith Christian Patriots a 15-0 shutout on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hayley Pugh and Victoria Thomas were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pugh tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Thomas pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Pugh fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4, while Thomas went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two home runs gave Pugh a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maryn Davis was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hochevar, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Grace Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win (which was Grace Christian's seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Faith Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

As of now, neither Grace Christian nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
