The Roxana Shells and the East Alton-Wood River Oilers will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roxana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.

Roxana is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Columbia just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Eagles.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cohen Dugan, who shot 47% from the field en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Sean Maberry, who made all 6 shots he took racking up 16 points.

Meanwhile, East Alton-Wood River played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Red Bud, falling 80-42. The defeat continues a trend for the Oilers in their meetings with the Musketeers: they've now lost nine in a row.

East Alton-Wood River's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Roxana, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.

Everything came up roses for Roxana against East Alton-Wood River in their previous meeting back in February, as the squad secured a 69-40 victory. Will the Shells repeat their success, or do the Oilers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
