Adding to the longest winning streak in Naugatuck Valley - Copper this week, Naugatuck beat Holy Cross 56-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Naugatuck led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Crusaders.
Woodland Regional's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tanner Kingsley threw for 389 and 4 touchdowns and Mike Kenney had 163 yards receiving. On the ground Sean McAllen contributed 99 yards. Taylor Tucciarone helped Woodland Regional's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 87 yards.
He went 31-47 with 1 interception.
Kingsley put up the best numbers through the air as the Hawks defeated Torrington. Kingsley's favorite target this week was Kenney, who caught 10 passes for 163 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Logan Marchi of St. Paul Catholic is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,630. He has also thrown 29 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kenney. The Woodland Regional star has 40 catches for 754 yards.
The Falcons are in third place, while Holy Cross is in fourth place.
Craig Bruno's team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,145 from 3,668. The advance stemmed from a 56-20 victory over Mike Giampetruzzi's team last week.
