Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Mclaurin's Winning Streak

After flying high against Wesson on Friday, McLaurin came back down to earth. The McLaurin Tigers fell 57-50 to the Holmes County Central Jaguars on Saturday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, McLaurin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tylon Williams went 7 of 10 on his way to 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton White, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

McLaurin's loss dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Holmes County Central, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

When McLaurin and Holmes County Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. McLaurin will try to stop Clarkdale's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. McLaurin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.7 points per game this season. Similarly, Holmes County Central will square off against Pascagoula and their five-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
