Basketball Game Preview: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Rock Canyon Jaguars

Chaparral is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Rock Canyon is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Chaparral Wolverines will welcome the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Chaparral is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Highlands Ranch on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chaparral was outmatched by Highlands Ranch and fell 82-28. The game marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rock Canyon). They blew past Ponderosa, posting a 77-30 win. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Mustangs are ranked 243rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rock Canyon has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Chaparral, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
