Baseball Game Preview: Palmer Terrors vs. Harrison Panthers

For the second straight game, Palmer will face off against Harrison. The Terrors will challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmer has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 5.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Palmer's offense. They came up short against Harrison on Thursday, falling 11-0.

For Harrison's part, Jonathan Van Der Merwede and Richard Galarza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Van Der Merwede tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Galarza struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Van Der Merwede went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Galarza went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Van Der Merwede has hit this season.

In other batting news, Anthony Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Harrison: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aiden Archuleta, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Harrison's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Palmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-17.
