Baseball Recap: Columbine Comes Up Short

While it was Columbine who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was ThunderRidge who put up more. The Columbine Rebels fell 6-3 to the ThunderRidge Grizzlies. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Columbine got a good showing from Ian Alexander, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Alexander a new career-high.

At the plate, Pryce Richie was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Cameron Powell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Columbine's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for ThunderRidge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Looking ahead, Columbine will face off against Mountain View at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for ThunderRidge, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-4 defeat against Legacy on the 15th.
