Soccer Game Preview: Pine View vs. Snow Canyon

Pine View hasn't had much luck against Snow Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will challenge the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pine View's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Cedar. Pine View wouldn't have won without Bryan Gonzalez, who scored the game-winner.

Snow Canyon hadn't beaten Desert Hills on the road since March 9, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Warriors who were credited with the win. Snow Canyon got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Desert Hills' four. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Snow Canyon used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Desert Hills. Kevin Lopez played for 90 minutes having averaged 65.7 this season. Noah Crowton made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Pine View's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those four matchups. As for Snow Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Pine View might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Snow Canyon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
