Football Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Maury + How To Watch

Cardinal Gibbons is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Maury. The Crusaders managed a 24-20 win over the Commodores. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cardinal Gibbons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gannon Jones, who threw for 164 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Brayden Karras did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 88 receiving yards.

Cardinal Gibbons didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Drake Stone. Cardinal Gibbons got some further help from Griffin Cockerham: he picked up two sacks and made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Cardinal Gibbons' victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Gibbons will challenge Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maury, they will square off against Varina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
