Volleyball Recap: Mt. Gilead Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mt. Gilead came into Wednesday's match having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Grandview Heights Bobcats 3-2. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2018.

Mt. Gilead wouldn't go down easily and took Grandview Heights into a fifth set where they got it done with a 12-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-17, 25-11, 10-25, 15-3.

Mt. Gilead found their leader in sophomore Kylee Whipple, who had 23 digs and one assist. Kylie Rigdon also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mt. Gilead was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.

Grandview Heights' loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Harper Henry and Juliana Sanzo. Henry had 12 digs and four assists, while Sanzo had nine digs and five aces.

Mt. Gilead's victory bumped their record up to 4-19. As for Grandview Heights, they dropped their record down to 5-18 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Mt. Gilead will take on Elgin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grandview Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
