Softball Game Preview: Del Norte Knights vs. Rio Grande Ravens

For the second straight game, Del Norte will face off against Rio Grande. Del Norte will be playing in front of their home fans against Rio Grande at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Norte has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 11th.

Last Saturday, Del Norte came up short against Rio Grande and fell 13-8.

For Rio Grande's part, Jayla Mares spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on 12 hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brianna Knight, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaslyn Gallegos, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one double.

Knight wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rio Grande kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. Rio Grande is 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the victory, Rio Grande broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
