Volleyball Recap: Mt. Hope Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Mt. Hope barely beat Achievement First Providence the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Falcons on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-17, 25-22.

Jacob Betres paced Mt. Hope's offense, picking up nine kills. Betres got some help from Dylan DeOliveira and his 25 assists. Betres was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Achievement First Providence lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was James Gilbert, who had four digs, three aces, and one block. He is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jairon Nunez, who had seven kills, three digs, and two aces.

Mt. Hope's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Achievement First Providence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Mt. Hope wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Burrillville on the 24th. As for Achievement First Providence, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Mt. Pleasant on the 24th.
