Basketball Game Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Herriman Mustangs

The Corner Canyon Chargers will face off against the Herriman Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Corner Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked 21st at the time (Corner Canyon was ranked 20th). Corner Canyon fell 56-46 to Mountain Ridge on Tuesday. The Chargers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Corner Canyon's loss came about despite a quality game from Sorrelle Nielsen, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Nielsen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Brooke Luper was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Herriman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 54-18 loss at the hands of Bingham.

Herriman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Corner Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Everything went Corner Canyon's way against Herriman in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Corner Canyon made off with a 49-27 win. Will Corner Canyon repeat their success, or does Herriman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
