Baseball Recap: Needles Comes Up Short

Needles lost against Southwest EC back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Needles Mustangs fell 6-1 to the Southwest EC Eagles. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Needles saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Lusk, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Lusk hit this season.

Needles' loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1. As for Southwest EC, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Needles will venture away from home to challenge Palo Verde Valley at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Palo Verde Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Needles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southwest EC, they will head out to face off against San Luis at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
