Baseball Recap: Archie Starts Season with Win Against Osceola

Archie had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Osceola Indians a 20-0 shutout on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Whirlwinds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jackson Kash made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was even better at the plate, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kale Snook was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Cowan, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Archie is taking a road trip to take on Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Osceola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jasper at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
