Recap: Greeley Central Wildcats vs. Lakewood Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vista PEAK Prep, the Greeley Central Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They managed a 53-47 win over Lakewood. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Greeley Central also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Leading Greeley Central to victory were Daniel Martinez and Abdirahman Dahir. Martinez scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Dahir dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Martinez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Martin Mendoza was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Quentin Wilson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Davis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lakewood were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Greeley Central's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
Greeley Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Highlands Ranch at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Highlands Ranch is ranked 153rd, while Greeley Central is ranked 132nd). Lakewood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hinkley.
