Volleyball Game Preview: Riverside-Durham Pirates vs. NCSSM: Durham Unicorns

The Riverside-Durham Pirates will face off against the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Riverside-Durham will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Thursday, everything went Riverside-Durham's way against Cardinal Gibbons as Riverside-Durham made off with a 3-0 victory.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-17.

Riverside-Durham got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Feller out in front who had 25 assists and seven aces. Feller is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of John Feller, who had eight digs and four aces.

Jacob wasn't the only good server: Riverside-Durham was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 16 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, NCSSM: Durham posted their closest victory since March 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Eno River Academy 3-2. The Unicorns haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The victory got NCSSM: Durham back to even at 2-2. As for Riverside-Durham, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Riverside-Durham beat NCSSM: Durham 3-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Riverside-Durham have another victory up their sleeve, or will NCSSM: Durham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
