            Softball Recap: Newcomb Skyhawks vs. Navajo Prep Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Newcomb extended their losing streak  to eight  on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They came up short against  the Navajo Prep Eagles, falling  32-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  19-8  on Thursday.
As for Navajo Prep, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record  this season. Considering they have won eight matches by more than five  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
For Navajo Prep's part,  Jazmine Deswood was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Deswood has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and one  double.
 In other batting news, Navajo Prep got a  massive  performance out of  Cheyenne Davis, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with four  runs, two  stolen bases,  and one  triple. Those  two  stolen bases gave  Davis a new career-high.  Kira Begay was another key player,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and two  doubles.
 Coming up, Newcomb will square off against Grants at 3:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something the Skyhawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Navajo Prep, they will take on Tohatchi at 3:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
