Softball Recap: Fannett Metal's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Fannett Metal dropped their record down to 8-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs. Fannett Metal was not able to make up for their defeat to Claysburg-Kimmel from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Harleigh Detweiler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kylie Arnold was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Claysburg-Kimmel, the win keeps they at an undefeated 14-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.8 runs this season.

On Claysburg-Kimmel's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Isabella Paris gave up only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, McKenna Black was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Payton Hinish, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Fannett Metal has already played their next game, a 4-3 win against Southern Fulton on the 2nd. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Windber on the 1st.
